The age old adage, there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes..

I've worked in Gothenburg during the winter, far worse weather than Cork but more of a population cycling. The Scandies just know how to dress for it.

It's alright cycling isn't for you, nobody is forcing you to cycle.

Anyway 30mins from city centre would nearly have you at the start of Ballincollig, you wouldn't even have to be majorly fit to achieve that. Modern bikes are quite efficient.
