This is not a "Union of equals" and good for the SNP.

If a country that has no ability or right to even decide its own future because of its democratically expressed views that are always overruled by a much larger neighbour, then that country is, by definition, oppressed and therefore not free to determine its own path.

N.I. has a structure to do so and is still basically in the E.U. with those benefits and some day in the future may well decide to stay or leave the U.K. while Scotland is just an abused trapped partner.

It would have been a shock had the ruling been otherwise, to pretend that the IndyRef2 is merely advisory was never going to hold. The idea that Scotland would vote for independence and the UK gov would not have to respond in a way that respects the vote is not one that holds much water
