Listened back to Pat kenny interview with Eoin o Broin from yesterday, O Broin said the big profit making cement suppliers should contribute to the concrete levy, Pat put it to him why should reputable companies with 100% quality products have to pay for the sins of cowboys who sold defective products, Kenny is also against the taxpayer here contributing to remedial work for holiday homes owned by people north of the border,

Legally Moan O'Broin would not have a leg to stand on if he went down this route hence the Governments universal approach (I do not agree with this levy).

Why is everything with the left "big business" & "big profit"?

Should we just have tiny cement works and tiny steel mills etc on every street?

If business do not make a "profit" they are just not viable and they cannot pay their way and employ workers etc.

Their constant "othering" of things and people as if they are big bad enemies, is just an infantile ideology.

Is it only "the left" have an issue with householders having to subsidise the energy costs of big business?

"A subsidy paid by householders to help big businesses with their energy costs was still being added to domestic bills up until last week, it has emerged.

More than half a billion euro in extra charges has been levied on householders’ electricity bills since the Large Energy User Rebalancing Subvention was introduced more than a decade ago, the Irish Independent has discovered.

The subsidy has cost individual householders up to €480, since the support was introduced in the last recession in 2010, with at least €600m in extra charges added to domestic electricity bills in that time.

Neither the energy regulator nor the Department of the Environment, the department in charge of energy matters, could explain why the subvention has continued for so long."
