Jesus lads, 'tis looking like BREXIT!

I was out foreign last week, to a popular holiday destination. The passport queue was hilarious. I did a quick count on the arrivals board and the ratio of non-EU flights to EU flights was about 2:1. The locals had two booths open for the non-EU flights and four for us, with our passport checks being cursory and welcoming, while theirs involved questions, and far more keyboard tapping. The backlog of gammons was significant.

Just in time for the trip to Newry for the Christmas beer.
Wine is sorted online.
And spirits in duty free on the flights back from GB & Canaries.

MUP?

Heh heh heh….

Oh fucking hell, forgot that mini budget/not a budget* was happening today.
The 45% income tax rate has been abolished.
Great news for those earning over £150k.
Cutting the lower tax rate from 20 to 19% and reversing the rise in national insurance all will help out higher earners significantly more than those at the very bottom rungs of society.
They're increasing share options for employees from £30k to £60k.
And then, jesus h christ, they're making universal credit stricter.

It's economic madness.

If you earn £200k a year with large share options, you're over £10k a year better off under this plan.
If you're an IT contractor earning £800 a day, this budget is probably worth £20-£30k to you.
If you're a banker on £500k salary, this budget could be worth literally £100k+ with bonuses and tax cuts.

But someone working in the local Tesco 20 hrs a week gets literally nothing from this budget, besides not being raped by energy companies.

It's utter lunacy.

*They've said it's not a proper budget, therefore are not compelled to publish estimates of its impact.

660,000 people earning over £150k a year will get an average of £10k cut to their tax bill according to the Treasury.

That 1p cut to the 20p rate of tax is absolutely nothing for low earners.
Say you earn £15k a year. The threshold is £12,571, that tax cut is worth £137 to you or £10 a month.

Yeah, amazing stuff. Really going to help with inflation hitting 10%+...

If you earn 1 million £ you get an extra 55k a year tax cut which is well above the average wage in itself.

You might as well put it all into Rolex's as the £ collapses.

Apparently taxing billionaires and millionaires is worse for the economy.

Scrapping 45p additional rate of income tax - paid by richest 629,000 who earn more than £150,000.

An unashamed budget for the rich.
