The Gaelic Football Thread

It was a free I’m afraid as the Galway man clearly held spillanes hand. Padraig would be better off looking at the lack of depth on his panel, the lack of ball into comer and his goalkeeper…. But that’s unfair as it’s unfair to claim a free like that turned the game. Kerry were the better team, their bench was much stronger and they deserved the win, they set their bench out from Januar- no messing, win every game and pick your best team. Next year their kryptonite in Tyrone will be back and others like Armagh, Dublin and even mayo should be better and aren’t scared of them. Maybe, just Maybe the penny will drop in cork gaa…….winning teams try to win every game regardless of competition and are ruthless with opposition and players
Refreshing to see a ref notice it and not be fooled for a change. All too prevalent in the game these days unfortunately.

Just had a look at the TV listings on the RTE Website.

21:30 - The Sunday Game

Des Cahill presents a look back at this afternoon's All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final between Galway and Kilkenny from Croke Park

Beyond pitiful/contempt at this stage.

The origins of the song are subject to debate. The modern version was recorded by Seán Ó Sé in 1962, hence perhaps why the GAA chose to use it today. Dónal Ó Mulláin from Cúl Aodha is reputed to have composed the song in 1940, but it's origins are in the story of the Puck goat who warned the people of Killorglin of an imminent attack by Cromwell, and whose deeds are commemorated in Puck Fair each year, so there is (partly) a Kerry connection.
