Cork city has gone to the dogs.

There has been so much good work done by local businesses on McCurtain street in recent years to tidy the place up and rebrand it the VC and with the amount of foot fall from Tourists with the various hotels / hostels a small bit of visibility from the guards isn’t too much to ask. I have a friend that works as a bouncer on McCurtain street and he says you would not believe some of the carry on from junkies these days, they’ve become more aggressive and are attacking random people regularly.

You need to get with the times. The traders of McCurtain Street have decided to ditch the whole Victoria Cuarter ;) shtick and revert to it by its widely known name McCurtain Street.

I'm afraid to ask but what does "The VC" stand for? It was only a few weeks back they moved back to calling McCurtain Street by it's proper name. It was in the news at the time.

Victorian
Quarter.

Its just a marketing thing anyway m8, I wouldn't get too wound up about it.

That's VQ, but two of ye had posted VC so I had presumed it was something new.

This was in the news about 4 months ago!

A historic Cork city area is retiring its ‘Victorian’ tag and recruiting a director of operations as part of a major rebranding and promotion drive.
Several businesses in the VQ, the former Victorian Quarter centred on MacCurtain St, have pooled resources to fund a new role to promote the area as a day and night-time destination.
“This is not just about driving business in the area. It’s about much more than that. It’s about the wellbeing of those in the area, it’s about the environment and it’s about community,” VQ spokesman Derek Shears said.
Brian Murray, the head chef and owner of the Glass Curtain restaurant in the Old Thompson’s Bakery, said it was being done thanks to the unity of businesses in the area.

They mention the VQ in that 3 times.

The MacCurtain Street businesses rep was on with Pat Kenny last Thursday. He did his show in Cork.

She explained the rebranding as VQ: Victorian Quarter. Its just marketing m8.

The whole thing originally is in reference to the streets architecture rather than any connection to the long dead English monarch.
