Musgrave versus Marquee Not Good

Thats competition is it not ? Obviously it is. But is competition always good per se? Tesco, Marks, Lidl, Aldi, have vast resources which can be destructive socially. In other EC Cities where people actually live there are Bakeries, Fishmongers, Fruit and Veg, shops on every second block. Competition, Capitalism, Free Market Economy, has led to a vast world wide shift of wealth to a tiny minority of uber billionaires. But they competed didn't they........ Off With Their Heads! Duplicating to overfeed a small need is one way to Palookaville. We had a successful Blues Festival. Another came along..... Now Nada in Rory Gallaghers City. The Two Film Festivals limp along pathetically. But even they run at different dates entirely. Musgrave is an attack on the Marquee. Look at the Ticket availability.

Things were great when we had no choice and just an expensive monopoly for everything?

Scrap Ryanair and kick out the cheaper German retailers?

European cities have huge stores for all types of goods in their cities and competition.

Poor Dan Dan wants to be able to drive and park everywhere as he wants in the city like its 1972.

Ah, Stalky never fails to respond, always negative gibberish, and with pathetic whining snide. So Stalky, Ryanair are a good thing in your estimation? Good for who? The Planet? People? Who? Aldi and Lidl supply a lot of cheap stuff. Who do they buy this from? Who benefits? My comment re EU Cities was in reference to the absence of very local Bakeries, Fruit and Veg, Fish, Meat, in our Cities. They have been replaced with Centras and such. Who does this benefit?

So just re Ryanair, yes they are the devil reincarnated but look at what they have changed in the aviation industry?

Can you recall what it costed to fly from here to London before Ryanair came along ?

If you don't like them, don't use them, your choice but I am one of those that believes in competition and choice for consumers.

Are you aware of any economic laws and facts ?

Grandad just hates choice and competition and wants to turn the clock back so he can park his steam engine outside the news vendor or haberdasher who may or may not open today

Local bakeries survive on the continent as the local’s palette expands beyond a sliced pan. Also, they don't do a "big shop" like we do so they get their fresh bread daily.

What fresh fruit and veg do we grow? Want a shop full of spuds, cabbage and crab apples is it?

Lidl and Aldi didn't put the fish mongers out if business. You can't survive selling cod and only cod. And only on a Friday.

Irish butchers are some of the best in Europe (Bandon has 2 magnificent butchers for a small town).

You're full of shit, pal

Competition could be healthy, if it were on a level playing field. But for instance China illegally copies Western Inventions, then produces them in extreme low cost environments. Close to slavery. Do Aldi and Lidl buy fairly? sustainably? Wealth is migrating at exponentially increasing rates from the poor to the Uber Rich. This Competition, Money based judgements, Capitalism is clearly a one way ticket to Palookaville. But to return focus. Cork has no Blues Festival now. It had one quite successful one. Then two competing. Now none. We had a successful Film Festival. Now two limping along trying to steal sustenance from each other. These are not just No Win Scenarios, but Self Harming. I am certain Musgrave Park will fail due to the Noise issue, plus traffic disruption etc. Garth Brooks may appear to have won his case, but ultimately another Loser story. Will the Marquee survive?
