Agreed but it’s not great for anyone in or past their 60s Feels unsafe tbh After the shops close seems gardai also shut up shop
Pubs seem quieter than usual (exams etc?) but restaurants and cafes are doing very well and the McCurtain St area seems to be always busy. One of the lads was out Saturday night. Said he couldn't get over how quiet it was. Most places only 40% full.
Maybe its Covid hangover or simply people can't be bothered their holes paying over the odds in a 'controlled environment'.
Quite busy 6.00pm to 9.00pm ish (a lot of foreigners and families socialising) and then a different crowd take over.Agreed but it’s not great for anyone in or past their 60s Feels unsafe tbh After the shops close seems gardai also shut up shop

Penneys got permission yesterday for a huge expansion in the city.
The quality of the stuff in some of those sports shops is very poor.
When the Garda station closed there it was promised that it wouldn't affect patrols of that areaHearing of some incident on mccurtain st last night
Let’s be honest lads the guards are not interested in visible street policing, cork is a small city and with 2 city centre cop shops should be easily enough to patrol ensuring there are guards only a couple of minutes from anywhere but that’s not what we get. We stead we get fellas on bikes skating around the marydyke and sipped up Volvo cars driving around the south link, never been more guarded in the history of the state and never been less visible policingWhen the Garda station closed there it was promised that it wouldn't affect patrols of that area
Ya right
McCurtain St has massively improved over the past couple of years. Some decent bars and restaurants up there and an increased footfall in the evenings. These scenes are a kick in the balls for anyone who has invested their hard work and money into the area. The Gardai need to adopt a serious zero tolerance for this kind of shit.A right dump of a street
Awful scene in city as man ruthlessly beaten on ground in middle of busy street
Gardai are investigating after the shocking brawl broke out right in the middle of MacCurtain Stwww.corkbeo.ie
McCurtain St and beyond to the Dean is excellent right now and I have never seen any issues there as it has an older crowd going to the Everyman, Metropole, Greens, Isaacs and the Glass Curtain etc. and all the bars seem to be well run but scumbags are always going to fight wherever they show up.McCurtain St has massively improved over the past couple of years.
