Cork city has gone to the dogs.

Multiple areas really, more discussion around fertility. I think it's quite a taboo topic but only once you're in the process you realise how many other people are going through the same situation. Talking with my friends about it they agree that we're not very open, especially as males. I can't speak on behalf of females but I know my wife is very open about the treatment.

I understand people may want to explore other options for whatever reason. Our first hurdle was the GP, encouraging us to stick with the natural route and to think of the consequences of exploring fertility treatment. The GP hinted at religious considerations.
Oh ffs that shit makes me so angry!!!

I'm really sorry to hear you had that experience. Fertility is very badly taught in this country imo. We talk to people about not getting pregnant so the expectation is that if you stop taking precautions you will have no issue conceiving, which is far from the case. We need to take a far more holistic view of fertility with young people.

Also, support services are abysmal. There are specialist fertility counselors, but they are rare and not always easy to access. If you think it would be of use to ye I would be happy to send you on details for some.

thanks Mattie. Luckily we didn't think much of the GPs word and got referred to the fertility clinic. But thank you.

Agree, it's what is always out there in movies, and TV where pregnancy is so easy and it 'just happens'.

He means having multiple kids with no means to look after them
I think (and happy to be corrected if im wrong) that there were practical issues with the mother caring for her while she was in a cast. There were steps to access the home, there were issues with being able to transport her to appointments etc. Added to which, she had to care for other children at the same time.

My daughter was in a cast for her hips for a few months as a tiny baby and it presents a lot of challenges, even in a case where you can easily lift her from place to place.

I think (again open to correction) that there may have been other queries around the child's care as well, but the practical stuff was a big part of it.
