There is way more to it.
Before I get slated - the current understanding is that he was attacked and left in the storm drain and it is possible the person in question is a known loyalist paramilitary member.
To be absolutely clear, I don't give a flying about his loyalism, just mentioning for this reason - it seems that his position is giving him some "cover" w.r.t the PSNI investigation.
