Cyclists

The usual story when it comes to cyclist deaths:

A coroner found that a cyclist who died in Victoria last summer was killed in a crash with a tipper truck.

Dr Katharine Giles was cycling to work at University College London (UCL) when she was involved in a collision on 5 August.

It happened during the morning rush hour at the junction between Victoria Street and Palace Street.

Witnesses at the inquest said the scientist and lecturer was in an HGV blind spot on Victoria Street when the incident occurred.

The lorry was indicating that he was turning left and its audio warning was sounding, the inquest was told.

The coroner recorded a verdict of traumatic road death.

Ms Giles was the second cyclist to be killed in 2013.

But safety should be ignored at the expense of convenience, according to the PROC cyclists!

Was cycling a long a narrow country lane during the weekend. I heard the siren from an ambulance coming up fast behind me. There were a group of cyclists ahead of me who had just turned a blind corner.

Seeing these blithering idiots doing close to 50mph, I moved out into the middle of the road and then back... just to slow them down slightly.

Idiots would have ploughed through them.
