For generations of Corkonians at home and abroad the ' Holly Bough ' has been an essential part of Christmas. As unique to Cork as spiced beef it is read from cover to cover in thousands of homes throughout the holiday season. Readers at home delight in poring over its articles and photographs while the many who have it delivered to them in far-flung locations prize it as they might a visiting relative especially arrived for Christmas.

Every year its articles bring to light events and characters historically important to Cork whose relevance would be lost were it not for the annual reminder provided by the 'Holly Bough'. It also continues to be a vital outlet for Cork's established and aspiring authors through its pages of short stories while its Readers Photo Gallery and Diffney Quiz are time-honoured favourites.

Consisting of enlarged versions of the covers of the magazine published through the decades this display , courtesy of 'The Echo ' , serves both as a tribute to a publication of unique content and a reminder of the special place it
