Brother of Christy, Kevin Barry Moore moved to the U.S. in 1987 and decided to rename himself ‘Luka Bloom’ for the occasion (a combination of influences from Suzanne Vega's song 'Luka' and James Joyce's 'Ulysses' no less).
1991 saw Luka return to Dublin to record 'The Acoustic Motorbike', the album that included a ground breaking cover of LL Cool J's 'I Need Love'. The same year he appeared at The Pinkpop festival in Holland, where he cycled onto the stage with his guitar strapped to his back. He was well received and thus came his big break in Europe.
2001 saw Luka become an independent artist, launching his own website and revisiting his early years with the release of 'The Barry Moore Years-- Earlier Works'.
