The annual Murphy’s Cork Oyster and Seafood Festival will take place 20th-22nd September 2019. The weekend will host the opening reception at the Metropole Hotel on Friday 20th September with live street music from the Cork City Samba band and delicious flamed oysters from Harty Oysters. The Lazy Chef, Simon Lamont will be theatrically flaming oysters whilst Canadian Shucker Paddy, will be shucking oysters outside the hotel.
For those wishing to immerse themselves in an experiential showcase, a wonderful demonstration in association with Midleton Distillery and Jameson Irish Whiskey will be taking place within the hotel. Head Cooper from the distillery, Ger Buckley will be demonstrating how a barrel is made and also doing a tasting session of some of Jameson’s finest whiskeys, including one designed by Ger himself from the Coopers Croze range.
Later in the evening, Paddy Casey will perform in the main ballroom of the hotel to open the weekend.
In the Met bar, there will be plenty of creamy Murphy’s Irish Stout with delicious Harty Oysters.
On Saturday 21st September, the annual Cork Gourmet Trail will take place. The day
will begin at 12 noon with a drinks reception in the Metropole Hotel followed by a tour across Cork City of some of Corks finest eateries. Guests will get to sample food from 12 of Corks restaurants and enjoy accompanying beverages. This is a day not to be missed and always sells out incredibly quickly.
Back at the Metropole Hotel, Cork Oyster & Seafood Festival visitors can partake in activities such as Jameson & Oyster pairing session and Prosecco and Oyster Pairing session.
Later that night, the Frank and Walters will take to the stage in the main ballroom of the hotel.
On Sunday, the Cork Oyster & Seafood All Ireland Oyster Shucking Competition will take place at the hotel where shuckers from all over the world will compete for the title. There will also be family entertainment during the afternoon.
There are over 50 participating venues in the Cork Oyster & Seafood Festival 2019.
