Blackwater Valley Makers in Fermoy are hosting an Exhibition of Student Art Works completed in Art Class with Pawel Wroblewski. The Exhibition will be open to the public for the month of February with the Opening Night on Thursday, 2nd February at 7pm.
Glass Artist Suzanne O’Sullivan of Blackwater Valley Makers said, “ last year’s exhibition was a huge success. The opening night had a wonderful community atmosphere with some of the young artists speaking about their work and what art meant to them.”
Works shown have been created from March 2022 to January 2023. Students have explored Comic Book, Modern Art, Graphic Design, Drawing and Colour. Works completed in class will be shown at the exhibition.
Pawel Wroblewski, Artist and Teacher says ”I’m trying to build the courses so I can teach the kids the things I wish I was taught when I began my artistic journey. The exhibition is not just enjoyable because it was made by kids and teens. The works exhibited should be viewed as authentic art.”
Long time student Sarah Corcoran says of last year’s exhibition “I really loved
doing the exhibition. I learnt a lot. I was very proud to show my art.” While student Anne Maidannyk from the kid's class is quoted, “we made beautiful work, it was so fun when people looked at it.”
This is the third Exhibition of Student Works held by Pawel’s Art Class in Fermoy.
Uma De Brun has attended the class from the beginning, this will be her third exhibition, “I loved to see all the art and mine in an actual gallery. There was a photographer and we got our picture taken a few times. I really thought it was cool and I can’t wait for the next one.”
Art class with Pawel Wroblewski is held weekly in Fermoy Community Youth Centre. There are two classes, children’s class for kids aged 7-11 and a teen class for ages 11-17. Adult classes are also available and watch out for Workshops, coming soon in the Blackwater Valley Makers. Students explore a range of topics through painting, sketching and collage. Classes run from September to June.
Cormac De Brun from the kid’s class says, “it was exciting to see the art in a shop and it was fun to look at it.”
So come along, get excited and have some fun at an Exhibition of Student Works, showing for the month of February in the Blackwater Valley Makers, 12 McCurtain St.,Fermoy. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am till 6pm.
