Alan Swanwick has been writing songs for four years and began his musical career as a solo artist. With the recording and subsequent release of his debut LP “Miss Ivy Veil” in 2002, the need for a full band was addressed as Alan wished to add depth to his musical ideas. The result was the formation of The God Fearing Folk, a group of musicians who share Alan’s passion for original music. The band have also collaborated with artists such as Fusty’s saxophonist Gary Baus.
The band enjoy continuing popularity on the Cork music scene. They have a growing fan base and have played venues such as The LV, De Barra’s of Clonakilty, The Blackbird, The Sirius Arts Centre, Connolly’s of Leap, The CAT Club, as well as sell-out gigs at The Lobby, Cork. The God Fearing Folk’s success as a live band reflects not only the quality and originality of their music but also the band’s on-stage chemistry, which makes for lively and atmospheric gigs.
