A net transfer gain last summer thanks to that little turd.
I wouldn't write him off just yet. He has the capacity to come good.

I feel comfortable enough in writing his Chelsea career off as even if he does possess what it takes to make it at the top level he simply won't get the chance of a regular game at Chelsea on the evidence of his "performances" so far. I think his brawn & size may have allowed him to bully players in his youth but this may have stunted his growth as a footballer.
Shammy - thoughts? You'll have seen more of him than me & to be fair I'm making a snap judgement based on limited viewing of the player.
I've not seen a whole lot of him, but when I have I've been distinctly underwhelmed.
I wouldn't write him off either, incidentally. I find it hard to beleive that sheer spite was the only cause of the tug-of-war between United and Chelski. Surely...

Ah but the price tag on his head is almost certainly a buy off as per Arnesen?
The redissue boys won't like it but Gill did well there.

Ya, United did well. They were forceful in the beginning as they were in the right & fancied the player. Once he came out repeatedly saying that he didn't want to come to Old Trafford they were dead right to get what they can from the situation & walk away....having said that if he turns out to be a star then they'll get criticised for their lack of backbone. Can't have it both ways. Looking like the right decision based on his performances so far.
I think Fergie always has maintained if a player does'nt want to play for United then good riddence and that was the case with Mikel. To be honest I didnt mind paying £14m for Carrick when the club had to fork out only £2m considering the fee Chelsea paid.
From Chelsea's point of view they have wasted a serious amount of money on under performing & under played players. Veron, Duff, SWP, Shevchenko (he might come good though), Ferriera, thats nearly £100m alone. Take Duff for example, the club didnt even get a third of the price that they paid Blackburn for him. If that was any other club the implications would be severe.

Hasnt played enough in the first team to develop to premiership standards yet...Still very young i.e 19 and a bit naive in his play, but from watching him regularly he does show sparks of unusual creativity from time to time and I think given time and pitch time will develop in to a good playmaker. We did pay way too much cash for him though...He also needs to kick his "Rude Boy" entourage in to touch and start being a bit more mature...if he does and knuckles down he will improve dramatically..the ability is there...its up to him whether he wastes it or not.
Its very hard to judge whether young players will develop in to super Premiership players...Ronaldo looked crap in his first season at united...

The instant impact as a sub against Bolton though showed everyone that he had bags of talent & could become a great player. add to that his performances in the FA Cup semi final & final showed he has a big game tempermant.
To compare Mikel's 1st season with Chelsea to Ronaldo's with United is way off the mark considering the game time Ronnie got to what Mikel is getting.
