A little bit about the fantastic Jezery

Jezery formed in late 2004/early 2005/midway through 2008 (may be the first lie of many, who knows?) amongst the doomed and dusty rubble of two bands. Ted Murphy and Shane O' Leary had been playing together for years as friends and also with many other musicians in different bands. Funking around with psychedelia, electronica, acoustica, and many other genres ending in 'a', the two lads had played many gigs but rarely in a consistent line-up. Jimmy Lyons and Shane O' Sullivan had been playing together for about two years, also in various line-ups (including a brief non-sexual affair with Ted Murphy in Mindscape). Jezery essentially came about as a result of four friends and musicians who were sick of dabbling here and there in music when it was all that they really enjoyed and loved. One night in December 04', after a jam in Leary's front room, we decided, ya fuck it, let's play some songs together and see what happens. Jimmy and Ted went scouring through Cork looking for some form of practice area (probably the hardest thing about setting up a band is finding somewhere to jam), and soon we found a container down in Fintan's Lot. Since then it has been our 2nd home (nearly our first home at times, we stayed there so long). In April 2005, we played our first gig together with 28 Costumes, Vamos and Audiogypsies in Nancy Spains. Since then it's been absolutely unreal getting the chance to play in Cork and anywhere else that'll have us. We've played with bands like Ten Past Seven, Loaded Gun Effect, Charlie Don't Surf, The Gurriers, 28 Costumes, Vamos, Wallmark, Communal, Red Sea Pedestrians, Nassau, Lerner, Tone Control, Bilk My Dragon as well as many more and it's been class. In November 2005, we decided to record some songs, so we paid a visit to BPM in Douglas and recorded an 8-song "Demo/CD/EP thingy" called "Be Wide" with Finny Corcoran. Now we're trying to play as many gigs as possible and hoping people like the CD. We're always writing and jamming and stuff cos there's nothing better to do... is there? I spose not, says you.The cd is available in vibes and scribes and plugd records, and off us at gigs

About beard seeking missile

Mike, Parky and Ger were in the Quad. Mike turns to Parky "comere we should start a band", Parky turns to mike slightly amused by the suggestion "oh yea?", mike raises his head off the bar "ya totally, its your round by the way".At this point Ger proclaims "lets think up a name, like".
After much more boozing and a pinch of thinking, three possible Names, one per person, were scrawled on a piece of newspaper and passed around the bar and random punters put a tick after their favourite of the three. And the winner?.....BEARD SEEKING MISSILE!.. "yes Boy" Ger exclaims,"Its a quote from black books, like". "Down to the serious business so" says parky, his interest increasing, "what are we gonna sound like and who do we want in the band", "Sure stoner rock or somethin and well i suppose yourself on lead,me on lead vocals,Ger on Bass and Kev on rythym obviously"says mike in one breath. Parky nods in agreement, "oh kev obviously",knowing well of kevs many musical talents he also knew of the furious D boys blood oath to never launch solo side projects for fear of hearing them some years down the line while in a shopping centre elevator.
The next day,Percussion! The search was on for a drummer that would tame the wild yet exciting sounds the parky-deegan axis were creating. It would indeed have to be a special man capable beating on satans stomach with wooden sticks of destiny! Parky at work turns to guy working at the next cubicle "Hey Antony?" "Yea?" replied Antony, an orchestral drummer in his spare time, "do you fancy joining a stoner rock band?" questioned parky nonchalantly, antony responds with equal vigour "eh.. Yea". With the Band assembled the writing process took shape Parky and Kev producing the creamy riffs,Ger with the schmoov bass lines, antony thumping the skins with a surgeons accuracy, and mike comin along with melodys and lyrics like a cherry bomb on top a cream pie! Rock!
