Thumbs up Liverpool FC Officially best club side in the world

According to a scientific study by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (website here: www.iffhs.de or more in Monday's Times newspaper), Liverpool are currently the best club side in the world.

Italian side Inter Milan are second, followed by Bayern Munich and AC Milan.

Other notable English teams on the list are Man Utd in fifth, Arsenal in eighth and Chelsea in 12th.

The rankings are taken from performances over the last 12 months, assigning weighted points for wins in various competitions.

hehe, its been scientifically proven

Let me be the first to say that this ranking is based on entirely questionable grounds, specifically, the points assigned for winning and losing in different competitions. Why, for example, should a win in the Champions League be worth fourteen points, whereas a win in the Premiership or La Liga is worth four? This wouldn't matter if these guys weren't so quick to blow their own 'scientific' trumpet, but you can't have it both ways.
BTW, can anyone possibly take seriously a ranking which, for the last twelve months, puts Arsenal ahead of Chelsea?

It must be frustrating for Utd supporters seeing their side slide down the rankings, 5th eh? can't argue with that, at the end of the day, the European Cup is what its all about, just look at Chelsea, for all their money they can still only manage a mickey mouse league title
