no more excuses from souness. i hoped they would sack him after the tepid performance against united but the situation has changed. the season starts now for newcastle.

I hope for Rafa's sake that this doesn't come back to haunt him during the season. Liverpool are in serious need of goals

I think it would be far more of a disaster if we'd spent anything near the £17m newcastle spent on him. Would've been nice to have the midget back but if it was at the expense of Cisse & a big slice of our transfer budget then I'm happy we didn't get him.

Clock is ticking though, you'd have thought that we must pretty much have the deals in place for a centre-half and winger at this stage (if we are going to get them that is) 'cos it'll take the best part of a day to get all the legal stuff, medical etc. out of the way...I hate the transfer window!

A rare piece of good business by Madrid. The 8m (approx) they paid for him undervalued him. Getting 17m for a 5th choice that you want to get rid of is extremely good work, I'm amazed Newcastle agreed to pay that much.

Shearer-Owen with Luque supplying should be good. Dyer, Emre, Parker across the middle (I know Emre is injured at the mo'). All they need now is a couple of centre backs that can swing a foot at a ball and connect, which would have got them a draw at the weekend.
