RESIN DOGS BIO

The name Resin Dogs has become synonymous with massive energy, huge crowds and an infectious rollcall of rhythms. Continually redefining themselves through their frenetic touring schedule, while stamping their name on acclaimed singles and two full length albums, Resin Dogs have established themselves as one of Australia’s most successful bands of recent times.
From humble beginnings in 1996, the teaming of DJ Katch, Geoff (Jigsaw) Boardman, Dave Atkins and Chris Bosley quickly proved a unique formula. Crowds grew, and continued to swell, with their early shows at Ric’s and The Zoo- in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley- establishing the band’s unquestionable credentials.
After seeing this outfit live, you were left with no doubt that they had that ‘something special.’
The sound- an undeniably hot blending of cut and paste sampling, funk, hip hop, breakbeat, and frenetic live playing.
They quickly attracted label attention as venues filled and their first independent releases were snapped up by punters in huge numbers across Australia. In 2000 they signed with Virgin/ EMI for their debut album release in a dual deal along with their own label Hydrofunk. A force in its own right, Hydrofunk is the established base for the many Resin Dogs side projects and was resposnible for releasing the band’s 2003 follow up full length Hi Fidelity Dirt.
The Resin Dogs line up doesn't stop with its four core members. There are a number of co-conspirators who join the band for their live events and studio sessions. MC DNO (Shin Ki Row, Decipher), percussionist Peter Neville (Trout fishing In Quebec), and an impressive line up of guest breakers, MC’s and live players make any Resin Dogs show ‘an experience’ and their recordings so highly prized.
Resin Dogs have blitzed every major Australian festival, year after year. They scooped three Australian Dance Music Awards- Best Hip Hop Act 2001, Best Live Act back to back in 2002 and 2003- and played to sell out crowds across the country and throughout New Zealand and Japan. The band’s two albums Grand Theft Audio and the 2003 release Hi Fidelity Dirt have attracted strong sales and widespread praise from critics and fans.
The band’s collaborations and recordings feature the very best that Australia, and the world has to offer. Too many to list, the highlights would have to include the likes of DJ Ransom, Ben Ely (Regurgitator) Abstract Rude (Abstract Tribe Unique), Lazy Grey, Robert Reed(Trouble Funk), Mad Doctor X, Kenny Dope, Super Dense Child and most recently The Pharcyde, Jungle Brothers and the immense talents of the UK’s Spikey Tee.
2005 signals the start of the push to play internationally for the band. The Resin Dogs are focussed on continuing to spark that ‘something special’ as they show the world the best that Australia has to offer.
