The greens?I'm not sure they'd go in with Merkel, it would obliterate them next time around.

I think the SDP want to go into opposition to stop the AfD from being the biggest party in opposition and I think they will be thanked for it in the fullness of time.

That leaves CDU-CSU-Greens from what I can gather.

Greens will come under a lot of pressure to act as a mudguard for CDU-CSU-FPD, and may not be able to resist. Their equivalents here caved pretty quickly, even without the risk of being accused of not resisting the far-right. I expect them to enter this very neoliberal coalition and to suffer the consequences.

Unless Die Linke begin to pose a serious alternative to the mainstream, I expect the AfD and/or their equivalents will be in the Bundestag for some time.

I honestly doubt that that's the motivation. Their vote has fallen drastically and they now need to spend time conning people into believing they are meaningfully different to the CDU.

The greens in Germany and Europe in general are much stronger than the FF Whores tax breaks for those who can afford new cars sad excuse for a Green party in Ireland

Greens got demolished in Austria today. Center right and right wing party to form coalition.

Green splitters did well though and got above the 4% threshold, which the greens themselves look unlikely to do.
