I hear that the Minister for Foreign Affairs Charles Flanagan is working extremely hard to have the youth released
I am wondering if this is the case that FG support the Muslim Brotherhood

I hear Charlie Flanagan is doing his best to appear to make an effort, while in fact trying not to get involved at all. This guy has been in prison a long time with our brave Charlie doing fuck all of note to help.

It should also be said that the Muslim Brotherhood, much as I dislike their views, were the democratically elected government of Egypt and were overthrown by a military coup. Whether Ibrahim Halawa was an onlooker or a participant in the ensuing protests, he is an Irish citizen (who was under 18 at the time of his arrest) being held in appalling conditions and facing a possible death penalty at the hands of an administration led by a military usurper of power, who (having banned the country's far most popular party) went on to win election as president with a rather dubious looking 97% of the vote.

For more info from a human rights perspective, this is good: https://www.amnesty.ie/content/egypt...-over-protests
