Default The Ian Bailey scene and the Irish police.

Before I go shooting off at the mouth about this, has it been discussed during my forced exile over the weekend?

If not, we need to discuss An Garda Siochana -because this is the place where things get sorted out.

Seems like some motherfuckers need to go through a thorough mangle.

Investigations, evidence plants, false witnesses, cover ups, "lost" reports, white washes, defamations.

Whose side are you on?

The English dude or the Irish police force?

The provincial police in Ireland seem to have a whole other game going on.

I'm on neither side but the Gardaí do seem to be letting themselves down more regularly lately... A lot of are just pure ignorant. They come out of Templemore knowing little bits about different laws and they way they go on, you'd swear they were experts on all the laws of the land.. Most of them haven't a clue and when you put it up to them they back down..

So why don't the brass come out and own up?

Why is there a massive attempt here to thwart this man's attempts to gain access to the material surrounding this case?

For a fella alleged to have done wrong, he's pretty fucking tenacious.

Is this the biggest police scandal since Donegal?

Why is the head of the police trying to stop this man from getting access to all documentation?

No case was taken against him. His reputation was destroyed.

Whose police force is it?

If he's innocent, he deserves a lot of compensation.

An awful lot.

The 375-page report was ordered by then commissioner Noel Conroy after Mr Buttimer made a complaint on behalf of Mr Bailey in 2005 when a key witness, Marie Farrell, retracted an incriminating statement which she alleged she had been coerced into making.

Mr Callinan is also seeking privilege over other internal Garda reports, including three prepared by Chief Supt Tom Hayes, one of which runs to 147 pages and deals with issues raised in a 2001 review of the Garda file by solicitor Robert Sheehan of the DPP’s office.

Among the other documents over which Mr Callinan is seeking privilege are two further reports by Chief Supt Hayes, one looking into allegations that gardaí supplied a man with cannabis in a bid to obtain information about Mr Bailey and another investigating how gardaí dealt with Ms Farrell.

Mr Bailey, of the Prairie, Liscaha, Schull, Co Cork, was twice arrested for questioning about the killing of Ms Toscan du Plantier but has always denied any involvement in her death.

The Garda press office issued a statement that Mr Callinan was entitled, as was any defendant in a civil case, to assert privilege and seek legal advice in respect of all aspects of the case being brought by Mr Bailey and his partner, Jules Thomas, for wrongful arrest.
Ugly scenes.

And not scenes that would instill trust in the police force of Ireland.

What are they trying to hide?

Tread lightly, Ringless. Those are rotty boards above a chasm you're stomping on.

Legally speaking. Also possibly metaphorically. Maybe even literally, what with the advanced state of mobile data networks these days.
