St. Julian's bay is a 15/20 mins scenic walk away and has a lot of nice cafés/bars/restaurants. It's a port town also with beaches, moorings etc along the way, but again not touristy, as in the likes of Canaries etc.

We went in February and there was a national festival on, with the main celebrations going on in the capital, which was pretty impressive tbf. We did a bus tour around the island one day as well and it was a worthwhile excursion. Plenty of history on the island. It was under the control of various empires down the centuries, Moors, Italian and British being the most influential, and their language seems to be a mixture of Arabic, Italian and English. The locals for the most part are sound. I found a small local pub near our hotel where I popped into a few evenings and it was like you knew half the lads by the end of the week.

I would recommend. I hope to get back there some time.
Nice wan. Sounds tasty.
