I think it all boils down to having the right mixture of youth and experience, tight at the back, wide wingers feeding a world class striker, a measured manager and good discipline. There's also an element of luck.

If there is one thing to be learned form previous tournaments it's that a players league form goes out the window.

How many players have been on fire for the whole league season only to turn up for a summer tournemant and produce the square root of fuck all. And vice versa.

Not to mind the likes of Mata, Fabregas, Javi Martinez, Thiago, Iker Munian, Navas, Cazorla all vying for a place too. Germany also have a more talented midfield, and its scary how good they are going to be in 4/5 years. Still think Germany will win it myself. Tickets sorted for all 3 Irish games now aswell, over the moon

G'luck

midfield needs balance...its all well and good to have offensive players like Xavi, Iniseta, Cesc, Silva, Mata etc

Alonso's no defensieve midfielder he doesnt offer the cover the defense needs

Same with Busquet, he's no Makele, Parker etc

as for the forwards, they have the 3rd and 4th most prolific goal scores in Europe in RVP and Huntelaar.

I'd have the following any day over the spanish midfield

-------------------De Jong---------Van Bommel

Sneijder (Kuyt)--------------Van der Vaart ------------ Robben

---------------------RVP (Huntelaar)

1st time since Euro 96 i've so low expectations KD

we'll do well to get out of the group stage

i'll be happy with a 1/4 final (and a win over the English)
