Whilst I have little sympathy for someone who over extends there assets and accordingly after being given every opportunity to pay defaults, I also do not believe any one has the right to physically assault another person.
He is in the wrong for messing his finances up but so is the Sheriff for what amounts to common assault. The Gardi are also in the wrong as they did nothing to prevent the peace being breached which is there sole purpose for being at the property. It was the 'Sheriff' not the owner who was breaching the peace and using violent methods along with I assume bailiffs.
Yes they have the right to serve a notice of eviction. No they do not have the right to use physical force or violent action in doing so. The Gardi as far as I can see in that video ignored that a criminal act took place and as such are in direct dereliction of there duty to protect the peace.

How many Garda do you need to evict a 70 yr old man ????
TBH I have little sympathy for him but in the same breath I like to see the state and it's minions use the same bully boy tactics and likes of the Dundon etc .
Ah well I suppose they have to take a break for handing out speeding tickets . Jokeshop
If someone has an eviction order and refuses to leave, at some point they have to be physically removed. Otherwise the court order isn't worth the paper it's written on.
I'm not sure of the law in Ireland but I presume thd Sherrif has that right, otherwise the guards would do it.
I would like to hear the full story on this, as already mentioned, the scum bag sheriff and his baliffs assaulted that man, end of story, The Gardai did not involve themselves in this assault which is a pity, I suppose they were not too sure as that bollox had a court order.
I have to say this though, its a good job that sheriffs don't go around on horses anymore.....you'd want some horse for that fat fucker.

He put up a good struggle, in fairness. Templemore's finest were tested.

I didn't see anyone hit him, they picked him up and physically removed him.

Classic bar stool stuff there. The Gardaí shouldn't enforce safe driving on our roads to save lives until all the drug dealers in Limerick have gone a few rounds with Gardaí is it?
No civilised person likes to see violence but Gardaí get thrown into all sorts of complicated heated situations so it happens. Mostly Gardaí conduct themselves well.
If you've ever been in a dangerous physical confrontation it is EXTREMELY difficult to apply rational politically correct thinking/training every single time. Unexpected stuff will happen. Yes, there are bad Gardaí but they have to be given some leeway. If this happened in the States the man would have been tazered and that would be that. In other countries he'd disappear and the police would be living in his house by 5pm today.
It reminds me of the Garvahy Road riots in the north in the nineties. Two sets of small minded people who just threw stuff at the police who are trying to separate the groups from each other so they won't get injured/killed. When interviewed the spokespersons biggest issue was always with the police.
