Why do a couple with no children or grandchildren need a house of that size to start off with?

The pursuit of social status. It's a curse.

Sheriff: "We have a court order to evict you and take possession of this house. Will you please vacate the property?"
Tenant: "No".
Sheriff: "Fair enough. Back in the van lads, he said no."

All these people saying the Sheriff assaulted the aul fella.
Ever see bouncers physically removing someone from a pub?
Is that assault?

Good point Michael.

You can use a certain amount of force to remove people from a property if they are tresspassing and/or creating a disturbance on.

Daily Telegraph

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...n-mansion.html

"The elderly couple, who have a portfolio of rental properties, are now camped outside the house for which they reportedly paid €3.4 million and is now on the market for €2.2 million."

It's same story all over the world. Probably the same for the other houses they are supposed to own.

Except they are in the fortunate position of having an income from 9 properties, which will more than likely be enough to keep them in a comfortable property somewhere, just not a 3.4 mil house in a gated community
