@strict
Jon Venables, you're right, of course he wasn't monitored as he should have been I can tell you that is not a common occurrence and a source of amazement to other people involved in MAPPA cases that it happened. The only thing I can say is that the system worked in so much as he did not physically harm another child, the alarm bells rang and he was dealt with before that happened. Thankfully so, and one would hope that thd Cheshire Probation Service have dealt with that failure, because it was a failure in public protection.

What would he get away with forced into running away? A lot more I would suggest.

As for safeguarding your own children, anyone subject to a SO Order would not be given access to children in that way. They would betold it was a breach of their order, they are subjected to spot checks, if they had children of their own the scenario you suggest about friends would be taken into account and safeguards put on place. Undertakings from partners, spot checks, covert surveillance it all happens.

The danger for children is far more within their own families or friends and from unconvicted abusers, a public list does nothing whatsoever to address that risk, in fact it can lead to a false sense of security because you think you know who the bogey men are.

It's about education, for parents, teachers and children. Recognising signs and above all acting on instinct. There was one house I flatly refused to let my children stay in, I dont know why, I just had a bad feeling about it.

In the UK, registered sex offenders are unable to leave the country without Police permission.

Notable examples are Paul "Leader of the Pack" Gadd and Simon Cowell's ex boyfriend, Jonathan "Everyone's Gone to the Moon" King.

It is the law now that all adults working with children in sporting organisations are vetted by the gardai to make sure their past is clean and they must also have taken the child protection course so you can spot the signs if something is wrong and know what to do in a situation like that.

Don't ever worry about being the big bad wolf as you put it as long as you are making sure the kids in your care are ok that is the only thing that matters.

This is where I'd like to see money spent, it's much mire productive imo in protecting children.

All the adults who come into contact regularly with our children should be trained not only on spotting problems but know how to deal with suspiciouns they may have.

I see it as a little army of people all able and trained to protect children.

I now fully believe over this last nine months that there is a God of irony looking down on me as i preach to the lads i coach about the dangers and damage drink and drugs can do to you and how they should never be bunking school.
