Another excellent tournament with a lot of shocks but then you were always going to get that with the massive size of the field and the huge depth of quality. Scotty Waites went out in Round 2 for instance. I'm delighted for Tony that he's bounced back from his Lakeside final defeat in the best possible manner. One of the most popular characters in darts.

Thumbs up

Wasn't really around to post as the Official world darts championship reached it's conclusion, but what an event it was too see the World great's try to squeeze 3 barrels into the World Toughest beds. What a great tournament it was.

Also ESPN were showing some of the Epic games from the history of the World title at the same time. Wonderful to see the greats of the game duking it out into beds that were about 15% smaller, and into a game where actually getting a 180 and 3 barrels into a smaller bed meant something.

Unbelievable.

ANd yet 20 years after he left taylor still holds the record average for a lakeside final. followed by bareny and eric.

As my sig says anyone thats any good goes to the pdc.

NICE UPING THE BEDS FROM 5% TO 15% btw.

Still drunk from christmas?

At least 15%. That's basic maths.

Look at the classic boards and the absolute greats of the game trying to squeeze 3 barrels in to a bed, and then you try to argue that . all round means nothing?

Just look att Tony O'Shea's bounce outs. It's a tougher marker.

Look at the classics of the game, a 180 in the old BDO boards way back then was a lot harder than a 180 in todays Sky boards.

So why then after playing on the """much tougher boards""" of the BDO do MOST of them struggle once they get to the PDC?

iT'S A SIMPLE QUESTION, WHICH I'VE ASKED BEFORE AND YOU'VE FUDGED.

and it's 5 % which is less that tip of a ball point pen.

And the bulls are bigger in the BDO btw, which allows for a lot more ton plus finishes.

There's no fudging. Obviously it's a disadvantage for the BDO players when you have to adjust your throwing technique to adapt to the playing conditions on the PDC boards of the joint tournaments.

It's a credit to the BDO players that they have still come out on top on occasions despite this.

The 5% is nowhere near accurate. It's closer to 10% on the measure to the centre of the averages of outside/insides of the wires. If you measure correctly to the apex of the generous diagonally shaped apex's of the PDC boards which favour the double and treble beds, then you are looking at around 15% difference.

You can tell this yourself by looking at the games with an educated eye.

look at the classic games. Look at the finals of the BDO, the 180's meant something trying to squeeze 3 barrels into a challenging target. Every percentage counts when you look at the barrels of the darts.

It's not like the greats of the game from the 80's were inferior to the modern Sky 'stars'.

A shot at the bull isn't going to make up for the main beds of the doubles or trebles.

Some parity needs to be found between the heroic former standards of the game and the modern game.

First 2 words in your post were there's no fudge"

Then you proceed to fudge and spout pure bullshit throughout the rest of the post.

silly me.

thought you might actually want a half serious discussionon darts.

but you're also obviously on the WUM like POL and(his) the most obvious alt anyone ever created padraigin. (i'm also wumming most of the time to be fair, but i would have a serious discussion about darts if anyone around here wanted too)

Oh well, i might sign up for "the dart board" forum been reading it a lot. decent darts forum.

The fact is the beds are bigger. [you quote yourself that they are 5% bigger].

So I think we are all on the same page when it comes down to the crunch.
