Default Sky

Hi all,

I have been getting this message from sky on my TV,

FOR YOUR INFORMATION
Sky + playback and recording are unavailable
Please call 0818719819 for assistance

Press BACK UP to cancel

I was hoping someone would have some suggestions or advice so that I might correct this myself.

I did have to rebuild my box which cleared any recordings I had saved previously and that is when my problem started.

Any help or ideas from those in the know will be greatly appreciated.

Its nothing to do with paying bills as it happens as the Sky TV access is working as normal, its just I cannot set my box to record through the planner and Sky+ is not available.

If you have'nt got anything genuine to contribute or just don't know what to do about this problem, well I think you should just move on.

But if anyone really has had this experience and has resolved it, I would appreciate your advice. I know I will probably end up ringing sky and see if they can sort it.

* I am just hoping my Sky Box is not on the blink!

if it's a new sky+ box you'll need to call sky to enable recording. they match the viewing card to the box

For everyones information. I Rebuilt/Fomatted my Sky Box Planner which cleared all recordings which left me with no Sky+ and recording options.

I decided to phone Sky and got the standard response. I explained my situation and the options were to call a Sky Engineer which included a call-out charge or upgrade my Sky Box to the current model (price unavailable).

So it was all about money.

They also asked what broadband package I had and was I interested in changing to a Sky package.

Eventually I suggested if I could reset my box manually and we went through the process and everything went back to normal.

I don't think the operator was too pleased as he was convinced that my Sky Box was finished and not worth saving.

The manual reset procedure included:

Switch Sky Box power off
Hold left and right forward and return arrow buttons at same time
Wait for Sky+ light to turn on
Turn power on
Release both left and right arrow buttons
Press Select button

Sky anytime and Planner appears on screen and all operations are now available.

Hope this will help anyone else in the future.

Why would anyone want to pay €40 plus for a Sky Sports package? I watch Sky Sports for free on my Laptop on a site that is available to everyone for free.

Sky have disabled your Sky+ function contact them to get it reinstated
