What's it got to do with Deirdre Clune?

It's a Cork County Council decision.

The people to blame are
- Seamus McGrath
- Deirdre Forde
- Tim Lombard
- Paula Desmond
- John A Collins
- David Boyle

I dont like the idea of paying to park around Douglas village i think its very poor form from our elected councillors.
Do you understand that ?

Personally, I can't see the point as there are two massive free car parks there.

I'm not opposed to paid parking per se, but I would like to see the money reinvested into the physical infrastructure in Douglas. I suspect it will all be spent in West Cork as is standard practice.

The other point is that putting in place paid parking in Douglas, while not doing it in Passage or Carrigaline is wrong. It will drive trade to those two locations. I note that at least three of those who voted in favour are Carrigaline based.

But how late do the restrictions run?

It's hardly going to affect the Barry's/East Village crowd.

There aren't even that many on street spaces in Douglas - Tramway Terrace, The Old Carrigaline Road and Gartan Park. Can't think of any others (the East Village ones, while seeming like a public street are on privately owned land).

Now, if they could stop people parking illegally in the bus stops and outside the old TSB, that would be helpful.

Better off looking into the mad planning decision to build two huge awful shopping centres practically across the road from each other.

Plenty of skeletons in that closet.
