You could put 4 or 5 more names up there as well ....likes of Billy Woods , Biscuits , Mick Devine ...all good players and all influential in their day
I have to say I always loved watching Patsy Freyne play
Patsy Freyne for me. Probably the greatest midfielder to ever come out of Ireland and could of made it in any team in Europe but he didnt give a fuck about the fame or fortune.
That, and the fact that he was on 20 cigs a day.
Europes loss was the LOI gain.

Late eighties, early ninties were the great days alright. Surprised too that Declan Daly not nominated, tough as old boots, great leader. I'll always but remember seeing Patsy Freyne sitting in the dugout behind Noel O'Mahomy sucking on his ciggies, a genius on the pitch. Dave Barry is my choice though. I was just thinking about the Bayern Munich game in 1991 the other day, and arch-prick Stefan Effenberg laughing at the "team of old men" when they came to Musgrave Park. bet he wasn't laughing at Dave and the old men afterwards.

I remember the friendly with Manchester United at Musgrave Park in August 1990. It finished 0-0 and Barry wasns't in the least eclipsed by United's midfield. Bryan Robson didn't play but still!
