Default Need Help Setting Up RAID On Ubuntu

i recently switched over to my other computer & installed ubuntu on it, its workin away on the main drive but i cant seem to access the other drives. i have 5 drives on the computer and im using the biggest one atm which is 400gb.
the rest of the drives are currently unallocated and unmounted and i would like to try get them workin at least but would prefer to set them up in raid. when i try to create a raid array it fails and gives this error

Error starting job: Failed to execute child process "mdadm" (No such file or directory)
anybody have any suggestions on what to do?

edit: for the meantime i have them all partitioned and mounted so i can acess them now but getting the raid setup is what i want really

if u got 5 drives, chances are that your mobo can handle a raid config.
your better off using hardware raid instead of a software version....

assuming they are all sata drives, boot to your bios & look for RAID there....
