Changing Microsoft OS on my netbook?
I picked up a Samsung N120 a few months back with Windows 7 starter pack on it.
However the computer only has 1gb RAM so the Win 7 is slow as hell.
I'm tight and don't wanna spend the money on a 1gb upgrade, which would be one option. I only use it for MS office and pissing about on the net.
I checked out ubuntu and didn't like it, I've been on MS OS's my whole life so am happy with staying with them.
But how do I go about changing the OS?
Is it something I can do myself? Where do I get another one from? Can I download XP, or Vista?
I'm living in Thailand so putting on a fake windows will cost about 7 quid down in the IT malls, but if there are issues with it, or I don't like it, can I change it back to the original Win 7? or is it that once it's gone, it's gone?
cheers chaps.

Looking around it seems Vista would be suitable.
Will try and find a download of it.

Found from google 'How to speed up windows 7'.
And ruddy hell it's like a new computer.
Is twice the speed.

Think it's about 2000 baht to get a gig put in, maybe a bit less. Which is about 50 quid. No idea if that's cheap or not. It's 2000 baht more than I want to spend though.

Putting Vista on it would have made it slower.
Win 7 is far more optimized.

Coolio.
Got a fake 2002 XP on my main lappy, a Dell Inspiron 1300 with a massive 760gigs of RAM and it's lightening quick, and does everything I need.
Mainly porn, MS office, and internetty. And playing me downloaded docos through my flatscreen and soundsystem.
Must say that I'm quiet happy with the new speed of my netbook if I still fancy a change it might be back to XP.
BTW, can you have 2 OS on a computer and choose one at start-up? Wouldn't fancy getting rid of my original Win 7 to put on a fake older XP.

Em doubt it has that much RAM ..sure your not getting mixed up with hard drive space? Max RAM that model can take is 4GB

Yes - it's fairly easy but ye really need to set it up from scratch . partition the drive and then install from there....
ye can do pretty much any combination really...
windows 7 / Linux
XP / Linux
or ye can use vm ware which is different setup altogether..
