Who ever advised to head to Churchfield must be off their heads.
The place is swarming with kids, it has an outdoor slide sure, they dont just stay there though, no no, they'll swim across lanes so when you are doing lengths you get a kick in the face off some pissy fucker in armbands.
I left that gym. Load of shite, plenty of cardio facilities.
not enough weights, not enough space and shit pool.
On another note, im looking for a new gym. Well actually im looking for a place with a squash court.
I'd prefer just to pay for the court and not have to pay annual membership to a gym just to use it, I dont run on threadmills anymore, I can do free weights at home. There really is no need for me to join a gym but I do badly want to take up squash. Any ideas?
I've called that tennis village place, you have to pay to use all facilities not just the court, same with silversprings and one other place that i cant remember the name of.
Also, ill need a partner if anyone is interested.
Does Jury's/Riversedge or whatever it's called now still have a one? I think they used to anyway...
Don't go there for the pool .... It sounds do-able with 20m and all that but in reality its only 1/2 lanes there full time max, the water temp is too high for a proper session, and it full of dopes and auld wans doggy-paddling around the place. For a man who does 160 lenghts in a session, I don't think it would be the place for you. But thats just my experience about a year / year and a half ago - it might have changed since.
Sure swing by and ask for a free go or 2 and try it yourself - but I'd say you'll get more of a workout smacking the fools who will get in your way across the head in frustration then you will from the swim.

I don't swim as much as when I posted up this thread - only around 60 laps nowadays. I do mainly weights now. I have a fear of the slow fat fuckers alright but I really don't want to go back to the Mardyke. I might just stick with what I have, I'll see. I'll have to check it out after work some day. Got another month membership in the other place anyway so can take my time making a decision.

Hi guys,
Currently joined in the Mardyke Arena and today I've officially had enough of having one lane opened every time I go in for a swim because of kiddies classes. It's not the kiddies that I've an issue with it's the lack of swim lanes. There was only one today which was full of people that could not swim. I need to find a good 25M pool in Cork where my swimming won't be hindered all that much.
I know of the following 25M pools:
Mardyke - they can fuck off now, I've had enough.
Leisureworld Bishopstown - not too fond of it
Leisureworld Churchfield - not sure what it's like so I need opinions of anyone that has been there?
And that's it. Are there anymore with a good gym where I won't constantly have to put up with having one lane to swim in?
mayfield. great and underused facility.
