Ehhh... I was under the impression the Yanks don't let people with convictions in. Gerry Adams had to get permission from Bill Clinton to get in there. Unless your friend is Gerry Adams, I'd say bare-faced lies are the only option.

Feck's sake. I'm heading to NY in october and I didn't know about this shite. Fucking fascists aren't happy unless they're causing you pointless hassle. I've only been there once before - when I was ten - and I can still remember the cuntishness of the US customs officials.

Here's one of the Qs:
"Have you ever been or are you now involved in espionage or sabotage; or
in terrorist activities; or genocide; or between 1933 and 1945 were you involved , in any way, in persecutions associated with Nazi Germany or its allies?"
FFS.
I think I'll go for yes, just for the lolz.

That question has been on the waiver forms for years in fairness.

you'd need a few moments to answer that question....

BTW; Re: Passport...I recently got it renewed. Will this suffice?
They look for 'machine-readable' ones....

Are all new ones machine readable?

You don't have to pay for this. Just go directly to the US Customs and border protection site below:

http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/id_visa/esta/

They have put out a notice about the third-party sites that at are trying to charge people for something that is free.
