Got the low-quality audio version also. The material itself is great by all accounts - tuneful and very prog-like in places with a big nod to classic rock.
Doesn't have as much as an impact on the first few listens as previously releases manage, but I have high hopes for this being a keeper when I get the full-on proper audio quality version....I'm reckoning it will be a great headphone record with the multitude of effects, synths and keys on there. Love the vocals, particularly on 'The Czar' too.

Snap. It's fucking awesome; kicks the piss out of Blood Mountain both sonically and musically (I threw on Capillarian Crest after listening to Crack the Skye and the drum sound on it suddenly seemed woegeous). The bonus DVD is a good laugh as well... deadly for whetting the appetite before listening to the record proper.

I didn't like the first couple of listens(kept waiting for it to kick off like Megalodon does). Its growing on me though, it flows beautifully unlike other mastodon albums.
If you liked the dvd well you cant go wrong with the workhorse chronicles dvd. It really shows their rise from playing in front of 4 headbangers in the back of some pub to sold out tours.
On a side note their attitude towards their fans is fucking spot on and they deserve all the accolades they get.
