Default Martin Johnson And The Carpet-Gate Affair

Martin Johnson to the best of my knowledge will make his first visit to Dublin next weekend for the Ireland/England rugby game since the carpet-gate affair in Lansdowne Road in 2003 . Was he right or wrong in what he did that time when he refused to move his team when asked to do so by the Irish officials the English team said that they were right to stand their ground and were not goping to be pushed around by nobody

Who was right or wrong in the carpet-gate affair ?

Was that the time the Bull Hayes started crying and let him get on with it?

JOhnson behaved like a complete prick from an irish point of view, but from his teams point of view, he did everythign completely right. The irish team let him get away with it and that carried on into the match. That game was over by half time.

Form an johnsons' of view he lined his team up to meet the "dignitaries" in the wrong place but not so far out of the way that the prez couldn't step off the carpet for a few yards and get her brogs dirty.

The were going for a championship and he wasn't going to back down a inch. In the end he won. The sight of some fool trying to persuade him to move made the whole episode cringe worthy.

I'd hope if the roles were reversed that BOD wouldn't move for the queen or princess anne.

As johnson said after its about winning nothing else

'That game was over by half time'

No chance it was in the last quarter that England done the damage

He would move - hes not that much of a prick. If it was an English player he's stand his ground but our man has manners like.

Here is the incident http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BdsTh2oP6o

I was at that game and he may have had the backing of his team but the English fans that were sitting in my section didn't. BOD was worse to let him get away with it.

Poor day all round, the game was over 15 mins in, only cheer was when O'Connell came on and smashed Johnno.
