That's some post SiD - you were clearly suffering withdrawal symptoms. Fair bit of training / action from you too. Good luck at KOTH - I've never done it bit would love a crack off it.
Meanwhile I'm doing a bit more over here - did the ride over Col de Glandon and Col de Croix de Fer yesterday. Amazing and intense as the Alp - some blast. Hoping to do Col de Lautratet and the savage Col De Galibrier tomorrow. Will post pics when I get to a PC.
Some training there SiD. I got a few Echos sent over last week, you're looking well
I have that 24 hr race on in a few hours. Thunderstorms are the forecast so I don't know that will go. Just hope they don't halt it half way through. I wasn't feeling it all week, I was wrecked tired and not really looking forward to it, but the minute I woke this morning the adrenaline was coursing. I can't wait for it. If the knee holds up I'd like to push on past a hundred and try for 120. Easily said when I'm sitting down with a cup of tea. All will be revealed

Feckin gas the way the 24 hour is "routine" now after WS100. This was a real breakthrough race for ya last year lad - good luck with it.
Looks like there has been some great running going on in the last couple of weeks.
Carta I read Born to Run while on holidays but enjoyed your race reports more, an awesome achievement congrats once again.
BT aren't you supposed to take it easy on holidays?
I got to feel a little bit and I mean little bit of what you guys ran through in Boston while on holidays in Lanzarote.
I went for 5 runs in total 5.5,6,7.3,8.2 and finally a 10 mile run which is my first time back in double figures since Ballycotton and it felt great. The temperature the morning of the 10 miler was 29°C how you two ran a marathon in temperatures above this is beyond me. I ran it in around 84 minutes but stopped twice to buy water in local shops, as fast as I was drinking it I was sweating it back out.Anyway back to normal temperatures again and hopefully down to the line in the morning for a run.
Hoping to run the Blarney half on Sept 9th, they have changed the course this year and taken out the climb up into Grenagh so it is faltter and faster. Then I'll hopefully do Cork/Cobh as well in October.

Great to see you with definite running plans again Elwood.
Am heading out for my last Alpine spin in a few...

Great to get to the 10 mile mark again eh Elwood. Yeah, the heat's a killer man. Going out for a trip in a minute now. Temperatures have fortunately dropped here - 30 all week but the storm on Friday night have calmed things down. Might even get a run in on Tuesday with the Terrier if his Alpine adventures have left anything in the legs.

Thought I had a number of races on this week: had a choice of Tue (5k), Wed (duathlon), Fri (10k) or Sun (triathlon). V frustratingly I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do any of them though - went out for a few miles today and my hamstring felt very, very tight. I did it nine days ago and thought it was minor enough to only take half a week to recover but there's no doubt you do heal slower as you age.

Assuming you're not going to stop entirely I'd skip the 5 & 10k and go for the Tri. Do no running - just bike and swim during the week
Right, I'm sat here on Carmona's sofa in sunny Luxembourg and he has the gun to my forehead to put up a few alpine photos so here we go:
1. Sunday - official arrival point at the top of Alpe d'Huez - not quite sure how I got through the previous hour or so...
2. Tuesday - On the road to Col de Glandon - awesome spin up from the valley - 30 miles of solid climbing - ranging from 4% to 13%
3. Top of the Col de Glandon. I asked this older lad to take the pic - was mortified to discover he was French military cycling champion for eight years in the fifties - he was up there doing a documentary
The "bike" monument at the top of the Glandon - you see these in a few other places too (e.g. top of Col De Lauteret)
