JAMIE BEHAN (Schmutzig, Bastardo Electrico, Electronic Ireland, Sir Henrys and Vibration)
Biog for those that DON'T Know
Over the past decade Jamie Behan established himself as one of Ireland's foremost techno Djs and he regularly rips it up at clubs across Ireland and beyond, from the Uk to Spain to the Middle East. On the homefront he is best known for his fast funky 3-deck fusion of techno influences which has seen him play at almost every techno club-night in Ireland from his own Bastardo Electrico club-nights at the legendary Sir Henry's, residencies at influential nights such as Bass, headline slots at Electric City, Ignition, Junction, Planet Underground, and Technologic in Dublin, Viva and Strutt in Limerick, Musiklab and Electric Circus in Waterford amongst many others alongside a three year stint presenting a popular radio show on the award-winning dance music radio station, Radio Friendly. He is currently a resident at one of Cork's premier underground club-night 'Schmutzig' for which he received a nomination for 'Best Resident Dj' at the inaugural Irish Dance Music Awards and is also resident at Vibration at the Savoy. Along the way he has shared the decks with some of the biggest names in techno including Adam Beyer, Ben Sims, Billy Nasty, Trevor Rockcliffe, Hardcell, Dj Bone, Paul Mac, Mark Williams, and Neil Landstrumm. Over the past couple of years he has presented a web-radio show for Ireland's foremost electronic music e-zine, Electronic Ireland, of which he is a founding member. The show is currently on hiatus but is set to return with a series of podcasts over the course of the summer. Aside from Dj he is currently busy setting up 'Bastardo Electrico Recordings', a label which will focus on dirty, quirky underground techno which will take influences from Detroit, Chicago, and European techno. The first release comes from legendary Dublin DJ Sunil Sharpe and including a remix from English techno luminary Paul Mac, with tracks forthcoming from Kevin Gorman (International Dj Gigolos), Mike McCoy (Electronic Ireland, Exhibit B Records),Dj Bone (Subject Detroit) and from Jamie himself. In line with the ethos of his label, Jamie's Dj sets refuse to be pigeon-holed into a particular sound yet at the same time are grounded in a kind of dark electronic funk that moves from Detroit to Chicago via Stockholm and Berlin.
