Default Trying to buy a sliotar in Champion Sports Dublin..

Act One Scene One
Attempting to buy a sliothar in Champion Sports, Henry Street, Dublin. If it was an immigrant you’d let them away with it but from young female Dubs this is inexcusable:

”Hi, do you keep Sliotars?”
”Eh yes I think so…they’re over here.”

Points to hurleys.

”Oh hang on they’re hurls aren’t they?”
”Hurleys, yes – sliotars are the balls. Do ye have those?”

”Emmm. I’ll just check. AMANDA do we have sliotars?”
"What?"

"Do we keep sliotars?"
”Soothers?”

”No. SLIOTARS”
”What?”

“Y’know…the balls for hurling.”
”God no – we don’t stock those at all.”

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Act One Scene Two
Arnotts of Henry Street.

”Hi, do ye stock sliotars?”
”We do – there just here in front of the cash desk”

[observing large basket full of sliotars with horrible Dublin crest]

”Oh right...Do ye have…any other types..?”
”You mean one’s without Dublin crests?”

”Well….yeah or Cummins ones”
”No sorry – we’re completely sold out of those. They always go very quickly. The others don’t really sell.” [smiles and winks]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Act One Scene Three

GAA jerseys cover two walls in Arnotts. One large one is completely covered in Dublin jerseys and then there’s a smaller wall with a mixture of 10 or 15 other counties.

Dub 1: “Here it’s funny the way the Dublin jerseys cover ALL A DAT WALL and there’s ow-enly a little wall for everybody else!”
Dub 2: “Dass cos we’re IN Dublin.”

Dub 1: “So?”
Dub 2: “People from other counties buy their jerseys in their own county”.

Dub 1: “Oh yeah…it’s probably the other way ‘round down in the other counties”
Dub 2: “In fairness, I’d say you’d be hard pressed to get a Dublin jersey outside Dublin”

Dub 1: “Really?”
Dub 2: “Ah fuck yeah…sure they all fucking hate us!”

He should try and ask for the sliothar as Gaeilge next time and flog the footage to TG4.

in Poc Fada's defense, it's actually the female shop assistant who says hurls, i mis-read it too the first time

p.s. It's much much easier to find an England away jersey in Dumpland than a Cork jersey.

Idiots, they get left with huge overstocks of England kits.
