looking forward to it , but I just have one question!!!!!!!! Is the course gonna concentrate solely on protools? cos personally I dont use it, i dont have the hardware for it, and Id imagine that most people going to this use Cubase, or some other type of music software......

The course outline looks like Protools is the DAW of choice:

1. Introduction to Mac OSX.
2. Theory of sound- physics of sound, analogue and digital systems.
3. Introduction to Pro Tools.
4. Recording technique- vocals, instruments, microphones, mixers etc.
5. Hard disk audio-recording, editing, and archiving.
6. What is a producer?
7. Introduction to MIDI- theory, applications and General MIDI.
8. MIDI sequencing- keyboard and drum programming.
9. Customising standard MIDI files.
10.Simple creative sampling techniques within Pro Tools.
11.Theory of sound synthesis, operation of synthesisers and keyboards.
12. Software synthesisers- VST instruments in Pro Tools.
13. Equipping the home studio- budgeting for your needs.
14. Ergonomics of the home studio- wiring, soundproofing, speaker positioning.
15. Understanding manufacturer's specifications.
16. Making the most of your existing musical equipment.
17. Transferring digital audio between Apple Macintosh, PC and professional studio equipment.
18. Capturing good sounds- basic musical instrument design, basic acoustics. Mic choice and positioning.
19. Mixing and mastering for CD.
20. Capturing the vibe- the magic of recording.

K, I know protools is like the "musicans" choice of programme, but for a DJ/producer like myself who has only used cubase and acidpro, is it gonna be of benefit to me to start learning protools..... Like I wouldn't call myself a musican......

gayer!

Who says you need to be a musician to use pro tools anyway?
Most of your favourite Virtual Instruments include an option to install RTAS plugins, so you can use those instruments in Pro Tools.
Lets not knock till we try it, its the standard for any sound engineering course, so it cant be that bad.
