sad and very tragic thing to happen to any family but yes it seem the last 3/4 games have all been dedicated to him which is a bit ott for me.

In my humble opinion Jimmy, you are right, the grieving got banal, I just averted my gaze.

Genuinely sad to see Gordon Banks has passed away, for me the best of my lifetime, and such a modest fella too. RIP.

Surprised that Banks was caught up in a scandal about the resale of tickets for some big game or other. He was of a different age. Certainly one of the best I've seen on tv back when keepers had to have a bit about them rather than the over-protected species we have in modern football

Just checked my World Cup '90 album (the ring binder one) and in the 'Golden Goals' section the only save to be featured was from Banks

Anybody know anymore on Hurst playing for CC
Rest In Peace Gordon. A absolute gentleman who had to retire due to a nasty eye injury.
I remember seeing Hurst play for Cork Celtic. A player who played opposite Hurst in the 1966 W.C. Final also played for Cork Celtic - Uwe Seeler.
