Default Sick Pay Reform

For those of us lucky to have a job in the Private or Public sector, what is your thought on the new changes for sick pay?

I know some have abused it but have you ever used your 7-days sick leave as an extra weeks holiday over a year?

We all know somebody or know about those who have been out on the sick for what ever reason, but if we tried it we would be found out.

Tell us your sick leave stories.

I have no idea, nor have I ever known, how many days "sick pay" I'm eligible for in a year.

Even when off sick nowadays, I still have my laptop at home, call into meetings, answer emails, etc... So sick leave is now meaningless.

Working in the private sector, on the rare occasion I was sick I never received or was entitled to sick leave.
Unless you take it from one of your holidays, if you don't show, you don't get paid.

Being self employed means no sick days. Unless i'm physically unable to make the trip to work then I go, if not I work from home.

I get 6 a year, any longer than 3 in a row and I need a cert. Public service wanted benchmarking, benchmark their sick days.

The system is being raped, like blue flu or the prison officers scheduling their sick leave to maximise overtime for each other, we are a nation of people who are only out to get what they can for themselves. The whole system has been fucked up by those trusted to both run it and operate within it. Public and civil service employees are a joke and should be embarrassed that it has come to this - the abuse of the system was so severe that they have to change it.
Look at the public service stats for sick leave versus the private sector (Im not arsed getting them).
If you know someone fucking the system over then you should tell them to cop the fuck on or report them - its the private sector who's paying for their sick days.
Eventually, at the rate we are going, the private will totally collapse.
Cut the back of office staff in half. Reduce the front of office to only those with a high level of ability and application to their work and give them a pay rise i.e. the good nurses who work hard should be paid more and the shit ones fired.
Rant over.

the public servants are nothing of the kind, they are public masters and have repeatedly raped this country and it citizens for far too long. It's time they all got a hard shunt up the arse!
