Default ads for the world cup on tv

these are really going to be depressing if we don't qualify.

i had a dream last night that henry and anelka were ruled out. when i woke this morning i wasn't sure if it was a dream, or i had read it late at night whilst boozed up.

sadly the former.

3 days to go.

Weirdly, I also dreamt of the Ireland-France match last night.

The first leg is going to end 0-0, and we're going to lose the second leg 1-0 through an injury time own-goal, if my subconscious is accurate. Also, through some chain of events I can't quite remember, I'll be forced to watch the match in a gym with the sound turned down.

No. It may be my subconscious's way of linking my ever rarer visits to the gym to a narrative of inevitable, crushing, self-inflicted disappointment, though. Dark.

I dreamt that a friend had been adopted by Tony and Cherie Blair. It had something to do with them wanting to look 'more liberal'.

I'm not looking forward to the outbreak of Threelionism next summer. I may take a holiday.

Getting back to the whole tv ads for the WC. The Budweiser ones for 2006 were class.

Two Americans guys who hadn't a clue about saccer bluffing their way through studio segments

"And now back to the studio"
"Er this is the studio"
"Welcome back"

its always very entertaining in my office, where cricket is the sporting lingua franca and even rugby is seen as a little proletariat.

'i say, charles, did you see the association football last night?'
'why yes, edwin, and i thought mr jonathan terry played a spiffing game'
