I doubt it. Taking the step of actually arresting them rather than just interviewing them is a big one and they are unlikely to have done it unless they were very sure of getting convictions/confessions.

Corruption within Gardaí ranks is not new times are a changing the with better technology such practices can be exposed.

Detective Garda was already dismissed by previous commissioner. Went to High Court and got reinstated. Was always perceived to be “friendly” to criminals.

Superintendent and Inspector were notified by HQ about CAB investigation and were (through no fault of their own) less than secure with details. Bent detective Garda then passed information to criminals resulting in yesterday’s arrests.
