Is this just another braindead random post from Creepy Ian Curtis? Have a lie down there for yourself, nobody mentioned taking anyone in.

...ah bless the mythical and honourable "traveller"...ut ter baloney, there may have been a time they certainly made contribution to a harsh society but those days are long gone, they come with various titles, none of them complimentary, more recently noted for their criminality and even slavery...an even more regular reporting of them as Irish, it's becoming ingrained in some minds that all Irish are like those reported, in general and in truth such people are a disgrace to any nation but in the current climate of political correctness dare anyone with any political clout demand or devise a clamp don...that ill be the day.

...jimmym, didn't know they has such a status, but agree with you on principle, as born innate of a socialist nature and greatly benefited from the achievements of desire of a previous generation(s) to give us more options a chance if you like., entirely in favour of a welfare system even when it is undoubtedly now routinely abused by an unknown number(to me).

If the experiment/declaration of minority/unique status has taught me anything, or what amounts to an elevated status and privilege of minorities, not at all withstanding those with disabilities has brought havoc to many a proud and decent people,on my travels working far and wide on four continents, a familiar pattern of aboriginal privilege and much squalor and grim predictable issues, and an antipathy to say the least from other people/citizens pretty much forced to accept the status Quo.

It never occurred to my of anyone around us that we were underprivileged raised in what would today be called a squalor of a kind, no running water or electricity, we survived with ease as a form of hunter gathers, and access to a free education including University, which I along with four siblings were grateful for.

It's what someone told/described to me of the Neutered Cat Syndrome Jimmy.....a family move to a house they have recently bought and one night they see a stray cat, slick and beautiful but immediately bolts when a light appears, they put a saucer of milk out...tentatively the cat approaches and again bolts when spooked by movement or light, but over time with more food or bait the cat becomes docile and friendly, his slick coat is not quite as shiny, he's quit hunting and waiting for the charity and welfare, soon he/she is part of the family and neutered...

....so it goes with the human being, a little struggle is good for us, an incentive to leave home, to work and get more options, when the balance between that and taking an easier route that never quite fills the heart or soul we have given too much milk and the saucer is over flowing.

That's a tad harsh in my not so humble an opinion. Ian Curtis is not always agreeable to me but his comments are generally more well worth reading than not and certainly not creepy despite the moniker...
