Why don't you post more?
He is a GR8 poster, probably more of a reader, more posts would be welcome.

That he uses that terminology is a different thing.

I absolutely believe evil exists. Is it in a material form or entity? No I don't think so. Is it just a human construct? Possibly. Is it just an adjective? No. Not to me. I am quite sure a psychiatrist could be able to describe sociopathic behaviour in purely clinical terms and to your point, provide reasons for that behaviour based on background, parenting, environment, nature v nurture etc. But fundamentally, that implies that that behaviour is correctable. There are enough horrific acts happening in the world, including one that had a thread here over the last couple of days, to tell me that behaviour resulting in bad consequences is too prevalent in our world for it to be ascribed to human nature or human will alone. If that was the case, preventing it would be a lot more realistic prospect. Or to put it in more simplistic terms people would be able to simply make a different choice of action as a conscious deliberate choice. If that was the case why is it not happening?

I am sure you would argue that people do not have morals because of faith. That their parents or society or the evolution of civilisation governs morals and nothing more and certainly they all play a part. But then why do bad things happen? You might think I am arguing because a beardy guy in the sky allows it (depending on your faith of choice) or the guy in the man united crest makes it so? I am not asserting that. I am simply saying that if bad behaviour was entirely a human decision and nothing else then we should be able to decide not to behave that way but we can't. There are people who knowingly, deliberately commit vile and heinous crimes - no one can tell me that in making that choice it is just tough luck and if they had gotten out of bed on the other side it would never have happened.

That to me is what evil is. But to go back to it, the leader of one the major faiths on the planet is talking about good and evil, is talking about the choice of whether to behave one way or another. He is doing it to try and influence to people to behave in one way or another, as hypocritical as that might be, considering the actions of clergy in his faith. That seems entirely consistent with what he is there to do. If the Dalai Lama said something similar without using the words Satan, there would not be such a reaction.
I think you are neglecting one salient point, while you boil it down to choice and good versus evil which works for most of the population, the perpetrators of these crimes obviously get some perverse enjoyment out of committing them, therefore conscience does not play a part but self gratification. I'm with Fishy they basically missed the whole evolutionary process of socialization that man underwent.

Evil does exist in this world and it is the work of humanity equally so people are also generous, polite & friendly.

I do believe that people can be made to be better all the major religions share the same spirit of resilience in the face of terror, hate and violence hence the Nazi's are universally disgusted by the majority of humanity. Only the Trolls find comfort with them.
