Wasn't Slane the day before the booked gig in the Marquee? They played a full set before Oasis went on stage so I think a lot of people gave the marquee a miss.

It was pulled for "Promotional Commitments" i.e. they had sold fuck all tickets.

agreed tyhe old folks and the kids are the only ones with any cash, it suits those audiences

Tom Petty last year was class.

I think I will head to something random this year just on the basis that i was expecting nothing from that gig and it was great.
